Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium; Memphis, TN
Food - 5/10
A very small selection of food. All that I can remember is BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, and chicken tenders. I got the BBQ sandwich, was not great and definitely not up to Memphis BBQ standards. It was dry and cold and didn’t even have BBQ sauce on it. It wasn’t that expensive, maybe $8 which isn’t awful in my opinion.
Atmosphere - 6/10
I was there for the 27-20 win vs Rice. They have half of their stadium missing right now due to renovations and upgrades, much needed upgrades. Because of that, the crowd wasn’t that loud, also Rice is pretty bad too. I will definitely have to come back once the stadium is finished.
Stadium - 5/10
Like I said, the stadium is undergoing upgrades, so it is a little tough to judge it right now. However, there really is not much to the stadium. The concourse is pure concrete, no decorations, no life, just a concrete hallway all the way around. Hopefully they address that in the upgrades.
City - 4.5/10
Its Memphis. Very similar sentiment shared on the FedEx Forum review. However, the Liberty Bowl area is not as bad as downtown is. Substantially less homelessness and its less busy. Just not much else around the stadium.
Overall - 5.5/10
Would like to come back after construction. Okay experience but pretty plain overall. Crowd can get into it at moments, food is subpar, and not much in the area in terms of restaurants and pregame/postgame entertainment.
