AutoZone Park; Memphis, TN

Food - 5/10

The food here was honestly a pretty bad experience. It was the first game of the season at the ballpark, so I’ll give them some slack. But, I wanted a nice hotdog, they had a footlong and a normal length option. Both had over a 30 minute wait to get them so I didn’t get them. Instead I got a pretzel and a slice of pizza. A very, very over priced piece of pizza. They did however have a meal of the day that is based on the opponent they are playing for the day, which is something I haven’t seen before.

Atmosphere - 5/10

The crowd for this game was a pretty good turnout for it being an exhibition game vs the St. Louis Cardinals, who won 3-2. They were also working out some kinks with the crowd activities so I’m not going to fault them too much for being infrequent or not very entertaining. The people there definitely cared about the game and their Cardinals and RedBirds, which I always like to see.

Stadium - 2/10

AutoZone Park desperately needs numerous upgrades. The seats are old, the cup holders can’t hold cups, the microphone cut during the national anthem, the protective nets had holes in them. It does have pretty cool entrance and lobby area which keeps this score from being lower. It’s right in the middle of Memphis so easy access to a bunch of good restaurants, no troubles getting to and from the game either.

City - 4/10

I’ve spoken about Memphis on here numerous times already (see Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers), so I won’t go into too much detail. But its not a good or fun city to be in.

Overall - 3/10

Overall, the crowd is great, has a good turnout, but the stadium is disheveled with a great need for upgrades and a facelift. And faster hotdog cookers.
